Visual search - another way to see yourself on the web
Visual search - another way to see yourself on the web
In my previous post I addressed the topic of what usefulness a tag cloud could have for your site. I concluded that they serve little purpose for visitors, as intuitive navigation is likely to be the most user friendly way visitors will find the content they are looking for.
Having said that, site based tag clouds are not the only visual search tool on the web. There are also web wide search technologies that display the results in a tag cloud-like view. The results give you a quick overview of the weight of each result represented by the size of the phrase; the larger the text, the more results there are that include that phrase. These often come with an interesting twist in that when your results are delivered (usually as text phrases) you can move your mouse among the results and the results will adapt and change so you can see further degrees away from your original search based on the text phrase you have your mouse over.
Try the search field below from quintura and see what the web thinks you are about.
NOTE: Not sure why the text results aren't rendering in the box itself; if you click on the x number of results link under the main section you'll be redirected to the quintura site where you can see the results.
